Pink and White Tyranny by Harriet Beecher Stowe (1871)
Thursday, October 7
5:00PM - 6:30PM
At the Harriet Beecher Stowe Visitor Center
The first of Stowe's light "society" novels with a character that many love to hate takes aim at the Gilded Age trend of raising women of more fluff than substance. Romance! Intrigue! Jealousy! Definitely a showcase of Stowe's more fanciful writing style and storytelling.
Arrive at 5PM for refreshments and introductions. The discussion begins at 5:30 and ends promptly at 6:30.
Nook Farm Book Club events are free and open to everyone (thanks to the CT Humanities Council, the Stowe Center and the Twain House) but please make a reservation to 860.522.9258 x317 or info@stowecenter.org.
