Community Conversation: Immigration Today

Learn, discuss, and leave inspired. Engage in thoughtful and meaningful conversation with other community members about the state of immigration in America today. Join this timely conversation led by Salons at Stowe staff and features a panel of experts from the Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants. Free and open to the public. Registration recommended.

 

Salons at The Harriet Beecher Stowe Center are 21st-century parlor conversations about race, class and gender. Since 2008 Salons at Stowe have provided a forum for lively discussion on contemporary topics that connect to 19th-century issues. Featured guests provide a starting point for discussion and are a resource for the audience. With the moderator and guests, the audience creates an “Inspiration to Action” agenda — a list of actions to address the issue at hand.

 

The Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI) is a statewide nonprofit organization that assists refugees and immigrants resolve legal, economic, linguistic, and social barriers so that they become self-sufficient, integrated, and contributing members of the community. CIRI achieves this mission by providing a compassionate array of high-quality legal, social, and educational programming and by promoting cross-cultural understanding and decent treatment for all.
