Emergence 1 premiers on the grounds of the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center in our first presenting partnership with Judy Dworin Performance Project (JDPP).
Performed by JDPP artists who have returned to the community from prison, Emergence 1 will travel through the experience of prison through songs created by those who reside there, those who have taught there, and those who have left there. In addition to original songs, the performance will also include spoken word and dance as the presentation highlights what we need to learn to truly understand incarceration and emerge from it, as communicated through the beauty of the human voice and body.
Both Emergence 1 and 2 are unique experiences of isolation and freedom.
Registration for each program is required.
Production of Emergence is supported in part by the Edward C. and Ann T. Roberts Foundation and generous private donors. Emergence is a collaboration between the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center and the Judy Dworin Performance Project, Inc.
